Sterling Master Plan
It was decided early on by the community and stakeholders (November 2008, during the Sterling Summit), that Sterling needed a long term plan to more intentionally address the current challenges and identify future opportunities. Since Sterling is divided by City and County borders, both development arms (City Community Development and Greenville County Redevelopment Authority) were engaged, with Bon Secours St. Francis’ Maxim Williams identified as lead facilitator of the planning process. The Sterling residents were engaged and centrally involved throughout the year and a half long process in charettes, workshops, focus groups, interviews, and decision making. It was the Sterling residents who made the final selection of the team of planners and engineers who would assist them in planning for their future. The team of Arnett Muldrow & Associates, Site Design Inc., and Hill Studio Inc., were selected as the team who would be the best fit for this community’s Master Plan.
The Master Plan is complete and now teams of residents, stakeholders, developers, and other stakeholders are hard at work getting approval for the plan, finalizing implementation strategy for infrastructure, housing, and economic development, and getting started on current projects to improve safety, recreation, and health access.
